PCC at the Jigsaw Run, Commack Septa and Strides for Autism Pride events

PCC recognizes that our local communities play a huge role in providing support resources for Self-Directed individual and their families. Our goal is to celebrate these communities, strengthen their bonds with our participants and create a network of support. With that in mind PCC was proud to take part in three incredible community resource and fundraising events this April.

Our first stop was in East Islip for the Jigsaw Run hosted by our friends at the EJ Autism Foundation. This annual fundraising event draws a huge crowd of runners, walkers and merry makers who take over the Islip Marina to promote autism awareness. This was the second year that PCC participated in this awesome event, Tom, John, Joe and Tal did an amazing job representing PCC by manning our information table, handing out flyers and cheering everyone on. Way to go team!!!

Our second and thrid stops came the next weekend when we joined two seperate SEPTA groups for their big resource fairs!

PCC parents Diane and Glenn visited the Commack Septa fair. They spoke to parents and students about self-direction, transitioning out of school and support resources available through PCC. They did a wonderful job shining a light on Self-Direction and PCC's role in it. We are so grateful for the parents, families, friends and community leaders who create a network of support for our Self-directed loved ones.

That same day Sharin manned a PCC information tent at the Strides for Autism Pride Run hosted by the Miller Place SEPTA. It was a beautiful day out in the sun. Miller Place HS students, community leaders, friends and families all hit the field to fundraise money for local organizations that support people with autism. There was dunk tanks (manned by teachers), races, vendors, community resources tents, bouncy houses and more! What a day to have fun for a great cause!!!

PCC is so proud to play a role in supporting and advocating for Self-Directed individuals. We hope to continue making community connections that stregthen our purpose.
